A new development has emerged in the Nandigram Assembly bypoll case involving Congress candidate Milan Pradhan. The Calcutta High Court has granted him interim bail in six cases.

According to an ABP Ananda report published on September 29, 2026, Pradhan has been granted interim bail until October 20, allowing him to contest the Nandigram bypoll from outside jail.

The interim bail covers two cases registered at Khejuri Police Station and four at Nandigram Police Station. The court granted bail against a bond of ₹20,000. Pradhan has been directed to surrender before the court on October 21, provide his mobile number to the investigating officer, and remain available for police contact twice a day.

Pradhan had been taken into custody after filing his nomination. The cases relate to events from 2007 and are nearly two decades old, according to the court proceedings reported by ABP Ananda.

The state told the court that police action followed an outstanding arrest warrant. Pradhan's lawyer, meanwhile, referred to the legal history of the cases and their status over the years.

The Nandigram Assembly bypoll is scheduled for October 6, with counting and results scheduled for October 9.
