Humayun Kabir Hints at Quitting Politics, Predicts BJP Win in Rejinagar

Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief and Nowda MLA Humayun Kabir has hinted at stepping away from electoral politics and predicted that the BJP will win the Rejinagar Assembly bypoll.
Kabir made the remarks on Wednesday, a day after he was detained following a confrontation with police during polling in Rejinagar. He appeared emotional while speaking to reporters and said he had become disillusioned with the political system.
Kabir also said that he would not attend the West Bengal Assembly as long as Suvendu Adhikari remained Chief Minister and apologised to the people of Nowda. He has not announced an immediate resignation from the Assembly, indicating that he would take a final decision after consulting people in his constituency.
On the Rejinagar contest, Kabir claimed that the BJP would win the Muslim-majority constituency and alleged that the polling process was not fair. These are his political allegations and have not been independently established as fact.
Kabir was released after nearly 12 hours in custody following the polling-day confrontation. Police had accused him of violating election rules and making provocative remarks.
