The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday carried out searches at multiple properties linked to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Nadimul Haque in Kolkata, Delhi and Ranchi. According to reports, seven premises were under the agency’s scanner.

The searches include locations associated with Haque’s Urdu daily Akhbar-E-Mashriq, as well as residences and offices linked to him and members of his family. The investigation concerns alleged illegal financial transactions, unaccounted cash dealings and funds from suspected sources.

What is the ED investigating?

The ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report after an FIR was lodged with the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. Investigators are examining financial records and other material connected with the newspaper organisation and its transactions.

Reports said searches were underway at addresses in Park Circus in Kolkata, South Avenue in Delhi and another location in Ranchi. Central security forces were deployed during the operation. The investigation is continuing, and authorities have not yet disclosed the full details of any evidence recovered.

Neither Nadimul Haque nor the Trinamool Congress had publicly responded to the raids at the time of reporting.
