Abhishek Banerjee Moves Calcutta HC Over Withdrawal of Z-Plus Security, Hearing on October 6

Trinamool Congress national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee has approached the Calcutta High Court challenging the withdrawal of his Z-plus security cover.

an urgent hearing was sought before Justice Krishna Rao on Monday. The court allowed Banerjee to file the petition and fixed October 6 for the hearing.

Banerjee's lawyer told the court that his client had Z-plus security before the Assembly elections, but the security cover was withdrawn after the elections. The lawyer claimed that Banerjee currently has no formal security personnel accompanying him apart from a few home guards.

The lawyer also alleged that Banerjee had faced several attacks after the security withdrawal and argued that the matter required urgent judicial consideration.

UNI also reported that Banerjee's counsel sought an early hearing. The court did not take up the matter immediately and fixed October 6 for the hearing.
