The Union Home Ministry has extended the tenure of West Bengal’s Director General of Police (DGP) Siddhinath Gupta.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal to extend his service tenure by another six months from October 31. According to sources from the Centre’s notification, the Home Ministry’s proposal was approved considering public interest.

Siddhinath Gupta, a 1992-batch IPS officer, is currently serving as the Director General of Police (DGP) and IGP of West Bengal. As per the previously announced schedule, his service tenure was due to end on October 31, 2026.
