US-Iran Hold Three-Hour Talks at UN, Trump Calls Meeting 'Very Good'

US and Iranian representatives held lengthy talks in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. US President Donald Trump described the three-hour discussions as “very good” and productive.
US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were involved in the discussions with the Iranian side. However, reports differed over whether the contact was a direct meeting or talks conducted through intermediaries. Witkoff said mediators shuttled between the two delegations during the discussions.
The talks reportedly touched on Iran’s conditions linked to reopening the Strait of Hormuz and steps toward reducing the conflict. No final agreement has been announced so far.
Earlier, Trump used his UN General Assembly address to signal the possibility of a deal with Iran while also warning of tougher action if an agreement is not reached.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is also in New York for the UN General Assembly. There is no confirmed schedule yet for a direct meeting between Trump and Pezeshkian.
