Nepal was hit by another flash flood on Sunday morning, October 11, after the water level in the Budhi Gandaki River rose suddenly in Gorkha district. The fast-moving torrent carried mud, rocks and debris through river-side settlements, damaging homes and infrastructure.

Reuters reported that about a dozen houses and two suspension bridges were washed away, while a hydroelectric project camp was damaged. Six people were rescued from the Jagat area, and workers at a hydro project reportedly reached safety. Authorities said there were no confirmed casualty reports at the time of the initial updates.

Nepal's disaster management authorities issued warnings for settlements downstream and urged residents to move to higher ground and avoid flood-affected areas. Rescue and monitoring operations were being carried out by the Nepali Army and police, including aerial surveillance.

The cause of the sudden surge has not yet been confirmed. Local reports said there had been no clear indication of widespread heavy rainfall in the upstream area, while officials were examining possible landslide or avalanche-related causes.

The latest flooding comes as Nepal continues to recover from the devastating August floods. Damage assessments and rescue updates are ongoing, and figures may change as authorities gather more information.
