West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited Lok Sabha MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay’s residence in north Kolkata on Sunday evening to attend the family’s Lakshmi Puja, according to reports.
The visit has drawn political attention amid speculation over a possible BJP-NCPI understanding ahead of municipal elections. Adhikari said he had accepted Bandyopadhyay’s invitation for the puja and asked reporters not to read political meaning into the visit. Bandyopadhyay said his party was the second-largest ally in the NDA, according to media reports.
The visit itself does not confirm any new electoral alliance. The political implications remain a matter of speculation unless the parties make a formal announcement.
