Kolkata Police have reportedly summoned Madhuchhanda Sen, wife of former West Bengal minister Indranil Sen, to Lalbazar for questioning in connection with the alleged Durga Puja pass forgery and financial irregularities case.

Investigators are seeking clarification about the alleged sale of preview-show and privileged-entry passes through MassArt Society, an organisation associated with Madhuchhanda Sen. The case concerns allegations that the organisation misrepresented its association with UNESCO while collecting money from the public. These remain allegations under investigation.

There is an important legal qualification: the Calcutta High Court has granted Madhuchhanda Sen anticipatory bail and directed her to make herself available to the investigating agency when required. Another report on Saturday said police were examining the legal procedure for questioning her in view of that protection. The precise arrangements for any questioning should therefore be confirmed with Kolkata Police.

Indranil Sen was arrested in the case and is in police custody. Investigators are examining financial transactions and the role of people associated with MassArt. No allegation against Madhuchhanda Sen should be treated as proven unless established through the legal process.

The investigation is ongoing. Further details are awaited from the police and the court.
