Jewar Airport to Be Named Narendra Modi International Airport Noida

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on October 9 that the Noida International Airport at Jewar will be named Narendra Modi International Airport Noida.
The announcement followed a state cabinet decision approving the proposal to name the airport after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The airport is located in Jewar, in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, and is intended to serve the wider National Capital Region alongside Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The airport was inaugurated on March 28, 2026, and began commercial passenger operations on June 15. Its first phase includes a runway and passenger terminal designed to handle up to 12 million passengers annually. Further phases are planned to expand its capacity over the coming years.
The airport has been developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, under a public-private partnership with the governments of Uttar Pradesh and India.
The naming announcement is a new development in the airport's rollout. The approved name, as reported on October 9, is Narendra Modi International Airport Noida.
