Two protest marches have been announced in Delhi on Sunday, with demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and a citizens’ campaign raising women's safety concerns, according to reports.

Hindustan Times reported that a Citizens’ March from India Gate to Jantar Mantar was scheduled for 3 pm, followed by an Indian Youth Congress march on the same route at 5 pm. Delhi Police said permission had not been granted for the marches.

Ahead of the protests, around 5,000 police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in the capital, according to officials cited by news reports.

The developments follow allegations by three women journalists on October 3 that they were sexually harassed by Delhi Police personnel while covering a protest against Gyanesh Kumar. Delhi Police said the complaints were received and transferred to the Crime Branch for investigation.
