Police and Fire Services Inspect Two Upscale Shopping Malls in Kolkata

Kolkata police and fire-services officials inspected two upscale shopping malls in the city as authorities stepped up safety checks at major public and commercial spaces.

The inspection focused on fire-safety arrangements, emergency preparedness and measures intended to protect visitors and staff during an emergency. The checks come amid wider scrutiny of safety standards at crowded commercial premises in Kolkata.

Authorities are expected to continue safety checks at major public venues to ensure that required precautions are in place and emergency response arrangements remain ready.
