The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of West Bengal arrested an RTO official and a middleman after conducting an operation following allegations of demanding a bribe in the name of renewing a bus permit.

On October 9, 2026, the ACB conducted a trap operation after receiving allegations that illegal payments were being demanded for bus permit renewal work under the West Bengal State Transport Authority (STA).

According to the complainant, a bribe of ₹1 lakh was initially demanded to get the work done. Later, following negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₹90,000.

During the operation, an RTO official and a middleman were arrested over the alleged bribery transaction.

The ACB is conducting an investigation to determine whether anyone else was involved in the incident and to establish the actual circumstances of the case.
