Gautam Adani to Visit Kolkata Amid Suvendu Adhikari's Bengal Investment Push

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani is scheduled to visit Kolkata as West Bengal steps up efforts to attract large industrial investments. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has been highlighting the proposed Adani Group projects in the state as part of the government's investment push.

Adani and Adhikari are expected to meet in Kolkata amid discussions around industry and investment. Recent reports have also said that Adani is due to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a proposed 2,000-bed Adani Group hospital in New Town on September 24.

Adani Group's proposed Bengal projects

The proposed New Town hospital is among the major projects cited by the state government. Adhikari has previously said the project would have around 2,000 beds and that the group is planning a major healthcare investment in the state.

The chief minister has also referred to other investment proposals and said the government is working to create an industry-friendly environment. These include projects in healthcare, manufacturing, technology, ports and defence, according to recent reports.

Bengal's wider investment push

Adhikari has said the state is seeking investment from major domestic and international companies and is preparing a new industrial policy. He has also spoken about land being made available for new industrial projects and about faster clearances for larger investment proposals.

Recent announcements have included proposed investments and expansion plans involving companies across sectors. The government has said prospective investors will undergo checks on credentials, financial standing and other requirements before land is allotted.

What to watch next

The September 24 groundbreaking ceremony in New Town is expected to provide a clearer indication of the Adani Group's healthcare plans in West Bengal. Details of any additional investment commitments or projects emerging from meetings with the state government will depend on formal announcements.
